Bullying is real. The anxiety and depression that comes from bullying is real! It’s time all of us, from school, to parent, to community takes bullying more seriously. We are all responsible for the safety and well-being of our children. We MUST work together to end bullying!!
Suicide from bullying is real and no child should be afraid to go to school EVER. Children as young as eight and nine years old have committed suicide due to bullying. There was a point in time where I thought my family would be one of those statistics.
A grown man breaking down in tears at work and rushing home thinking the worst because your child won’t respond to you is a feeling no parent should ever have to go through. And while we didn’t discover the worst, what we did discover was a broken child lying in bed in the darkness of his room.
My son was the product of bullying since 2nd grade. He fought through it until 7th grade when enough became enough and he cracked. He stopped attending school and spent the majority of his time in the darkness of his room. He stopped playing sports. He gave up. Had my wife and I continued to force him to go to school, I’m not sure he would be with us today. Let me repeat that. Had we continued to send my son to the “safe place” called school, we are not sure he’d be alive today.
This is a picture of a child who suffered from extreme bullying. This has to stop!! If your child witnesses a kid being bullied, please encourage your child to speak out against the bullying. Please encourage them to be kind!!
It’s time bullying is taken seriously. It’s time we put a stop to bullying!!
