Courtesy of a YouTube video from retired Navy SEAL Admiral William H. McRaven during a commencement ceremony in 2014. I found his 10 things for changing the world inspirational.
If you want to change the world:
- Make your bed every morning. If you can’t do the little things right, you’ll never be able to do the big things right.
- Find people to help you paddle. Find people to help you through life.
- Measure a person by the size of their heart and not by the size of their flippers. Nothing matters but your will to succeed.
- Get over being a sugar cookie and keep moving forward. Failure is inevitable. When you fail, pick yourself up and keep moving forward.
- Don’t be afraid of the circuses.
- Slide down the obstacles head first. Don’t be afraid to take risks.
- Don’t back down from the sharks.
- Be your very best in your darkest moments.
- Start singing when you’re up to your neck in mud. Give people hope.
- Never ring the bell. Never give up!
